We speak from experience when we say that the best early start is crucial for a smooth transition from veterinary student to qualified Veterinarian and we want to help you make that happen.
Job searching can be a daunting task, and when it’s your first time in a specific job sector it’s often difficult to know what to look for and where to start with a criteria. For most new grads with little working history or experience, job criteria often boils down to two main factors. 1-Location 2- Salary. While understandable that many new grads have a location preference and who doesn’t want to follow a good salary, unfortunately what often gets overlooked is the importance of finding the right clinic for you. Finding a job and team which supports you early on in your career is invaluable to both your progress and your enjoyment in the work place. VettingVets has been designed so that not only are you matched with practices searching for a new grad in the area you’ve selected but also so that before reaching out for more information you can view videos of the practice helping you get a real feel for both the practice and team.
While it’s important for you to get a feel of the practice, it’s equally as important for the practice to be able to see the best of you. As a new grad, don’t worry about limited work experience in the real world. Practices understand that you are new to the industry. Now’s your time to shine.
Where you lack in job history, share your hobbies, photos (if you wish) , areas of interest, both veterinary and otherwise. Give the practice a feel for who you really are. This is not a CV. You don’t need to worry about gaps. Simply select the options for the choices you’d like to display and the stage is yours.
Once your profile is complete you will be able to scroll through practices in the area of your choice marking suitable practices as ‘liked’. If they like you too, it’s a match and the door to the beginning of your new career opens.
